Flash MX Savvy

Flash MX Savvy
By Ethan Wattrall and Norbert Herber
Rating -
Pros  •  Incredibly detailed.
•  Simple to understand, but has great depth.
•  Great from beginner to professional.
Cons  •  None
The Bottom Line - If you are only getting one book to learn to use Flash MX thoroughly, then this one must be a serious contender. If you know nothing of Flash, it walks you through all the steps in a simple but not simplistic way. This holds true from beginning to the serious ActionScripting towards the end.

Reviewer's Comments
Simple to Understand, but Not Simplistic
This book is written from an interesting viewpoint. It assumes no prior knowledge, but covers every complexity of this fascinating program. Once the basics are covered, it will make even the experts sit up and take notice. All lessons are explained in detail with no need to guess, as the instructions are so precise. With links to inspirational sites featuring the major points of each lesson, this is a book to savour. It is full of subtle hints to enhance the user's experience of your creation. The introduction to ActionScripting is done in such a way as to not daunt the non-programmer. Audio is dealt with in detail, with explanations of the dynamics of sounds and how to employ them. I got rid of my old Flash tutorial book because I won't need it again after this book. I can't be any more enthusiastic than that. At least look at it for yourself before purchasing any tutorial book.
